When there is not enough bone where an implant will be placed, bone graft material and, if needed, a protective membrane are used to increase the bone volume.

After tooth loss, the jawbone gradually shrinks. For an implant to stay firm, there must be enough bone around it. If there is not enough bone, bone graft material is placed in the area; over time the body fills this area with its own bone.
A graft can be placed in the same session as the implant or as a separate procedure before it. At our clinic these procedures are performed by our periodontist, Dr. Ömer Kazım Toprak.
The height and width of the bone are measured with a CT scan (CBCT).
It is decided whether the graft will be placed in the same session as the implant or beforehand.
Under local anesthesia, bone graft is placed, covered with a protective membrane if needed, and the area is stitched.
The graft is given time to fuse with the bone; how long depends on the area.
Once there is enough bone, the implant is placed.
Bone grafting and implant surgery are performed by our periodontist.

Examination, CT assessment and the surgical procedure.

Anesthesia and monitoring for patients who would like sedation.

CT scans (CBCT) are taken at the clinic; you do not need to go to a separate center.
Grafts can be synthetic, of animal origin or of human origin. Which one will be used is explained to you at the examination.
The procedure is done under local anesthesia. There may be mild pain and swelling in the following days.
It depends on the area and the amount of graft; usually a few months. In some cases the graft and implant are placed in the same session.
No. If there is enough bone, no graft is needed. The decision is based on the CT scan.
