Our clinic’s advice for the first hours and days after implant surgery and for the period after your permanent teeth are fitted.

The advice on this page is based on the written instructions we give our patients after implant surgery at our clinic. Following this advice in the first days is important for smooth healing and for the implant to fuse properly with the bone.
If your dentist has given you specific advice, always follow that advice.

After the permanent prosthesis is fitted, an adjustment period is always needed. It is normal for speech and chewing to feel unfamiliar for a while. Talk to your dentist at your check-up appointments about any discomfort during this period.
For long-term care, see the advice on the implant-supported dentures page.
You can reach us on +90 256 212 46 46 or via our WhatsApp line. At weekends and outside working hours you can leave a message on WhatsApp.

Check-up appointments are at the same clinic, with the dentist who performed the surgery.
Soft, lukewarm foods with plenty of liquid are recommended for the first 2 days. After that you gradually return to a normal diet as your dentist advises; if you have a temporary prosthesis, avoid hard foods.
It is recommended to avoid strenuous exercise in the first days. You can ask your dentist at the check-up when you can start again.
Most patients return to work or school within 1–2 days. Your dentist will advise you depending on the scope of the procedure.
There may be swelling and bruising in the first days. Applying cold on the outside for the first 8 hours reduces them.
Mild pain is expected and is controlled with the medication your dentist recommends. Call the clinic if the pain increases.
